Richard H. Burnish is the author of the Neon Bible and host of Jesus Chatline together with Steven Chilton. He is portrayed by internet comedian Dustin Horrock. Richard claims to have met Steven working on a construction site, where they had to endure a sleazy foreman who constantly played classic rock and talked about "Getting up in 'dem guts". They soon left after getting into an accident in a semi after drinking an entire bottle of Old Grandad. Swearing to God to change their ways if they got out alive, the two went off on their own and founded the Church of the Neon Bible.

Richard has a warm and engaging personality, which is often taken advantage of by callers such as Randall. He claims to have large amounts of tech know-how but constantly makes mistakes such as referring to IP addresses incorrectly and holding their iPad upside down. Richard can also shown to be a bit egotistical when it comes to his own self-image, as he constantly reminds Steven that it 'is [his] name on the show' that the joke callers are making a mockery of.

Similar to Steven, Richard was killed, once in an earthquake and once in Japan, and a funeral episode was held, but he later returned.
